John practises in commercial, property and estate law.

After being admitted and then practising as a solicitor from 1989, John was the Associate to his Honour Justice Cooper in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1991.  He then practised as a solicitor in England, working mainly in banking and finance litigation, and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of England and Wales.  John was a partner in a Brisbane CBD law firm prior to commencing practice at the Bar in 2006.

John holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology, is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (Step).

John’s commercial work includes contract law, equity, franchising, trade practices, insolvency and building and construction.  His estate practice includes the construction and validity of wills, matters relating to executors and trustees, and family provision.

John’s published articles include “Miami Advice or California dreaming: a statutory presumption of testamentary undue influence in Australia?” (2011) 31 Qld Lawyer 170.
